Stan Janko -
December 6th 1930 - December 3rd 2009
passed away December 3rd 2009 - 3 days short of his 79th birthday.
Stan was born
in Manitoba in 1930 and grew up on a farm in Brooks Alberta. His career in the
automobile business took him from Central Alberta to Vancouver. In 1979 Stan and
his wife Doreen settled in Osoyoos in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia
where they owned several successful business's including "Solana Motors" (auto,
truck and RV sales).
Stan was an
avid Golfer all his life and he and Doreen were long-time members at the Osoyoos
Golf and Country Club. Stan was a serious fisherman and hunter throughout his
life until later when he declared he "didn't need to hunt anymore because he had
Stan and Doreen spent every winter down south (Nevada, California and Arizona)
traveling with their motor-home. Stan lived a full life and did many things and
had many friends.
After retirement in 1991, Stan discovered a talent for painting and painted
scenes from memories of growing up on a Southern Alberta prairie farm. He also
painted many old cars, trucks and tractors with surprising detail.
Stan's art work
has been very well accepted, and it hangs in many homes and offices from
Vancouver Island, downtown Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, throughout the
Prairies, Los Angeles California, and even downtown Manhattan Island New York
the Canadian West the way he remembered it, with serious attention to detail.
Stan passed away leaving over
100 paintings, many of them framed and ready for sale. I inherited these
