Stan Janko paints the West the way he
remembers it, spacious and colorful. His style is graphic and his subjects are
as varied as the West itself. Much of his material comes from childhood
memories, growing up on an Alberta prairie farm. He renders these memories in
acrylics, with a highly defined dedication to authenticity.
Stan's paintings reflect his
prairie heritage. He paints with infinite care and accuracy. Threshing time on the farm. Herding cattle on the
ranch. River banks and open spaces. His skies sweep across the canvas,
sun-filled or alive with thunder and hail. His farms have weathered the years.
His cars and trucks speak of better days. His work is a panorama of prairie life.
Stan remembers living the scenes he paints. It's a life-style
that's rapidly disappearing on the prairies.
Stan has no formal art training. He discovered his talent
after he retired in 1991. Now 77 years old he continues to paint everyday,
devoting hours to achieving spectacular cloudscapes and carefully defining the
details of an old tractor or dump truck. His paintings reflect his genuine
love of nature and a pride in his past.
